LOOK! Up in the sky... it's a bird... it's a plane... no... actually it's the ever-expanding DC/MC comic franchise of films that are raking in millions and billions of dollars at the box office. Whether you're a fan from the distant past rifling through old-school comic books or a newer member following this superhero squad, the draw from these adventures keeps growing with audiences of all ages and we just can't seem to get enough of these tales.

Personally speaking, the newer Wonder Woman franchise is my personal favorite starring Gal Gadot in the title role. Let's get cheesy and recall this blast from the past with Linda Carter's appearance as the original WW who will always hold a special place in my heart (sorry I'm super old). So let's get the golden lasso of truth and reveal the most highly anticipated super-duper movies coming in 2023.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (March 17, 2023)

While many people will be seeing green on March 17th, head over to the theater and watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods in his red super suit along with the multi-colored outfits of his adopted family members. Zachary Levi will reprise his role as the title character along with Asher Angel in his teenage form along with most of the cast from the former flick. Watch out for new villains Kalypso (Lucy Liu) and Hespera (Helen Mirren) as the daughters of Atlas looking to defeat the whole family.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023)

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) return to the big screen in the third installment in this successful franchise along with their ragtag team of Guardians of the Galaxy. Look for plenty of hijinks from the cast of regulars along with the adorable Baby Groot as voiced by Vin Diesel. As teased at the end of the second volume, expect to see Will Poulter appear as Adam Warlock.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (June 2, 2023)

The first installment of the web-slinger's adventures was a huge hit with both critics and audiences alike winning an Oscar for the best-animated feature film. Originally slated for release in 2022, anxious fans of Spider-Man will have to wait until June of 2023 for the masked hero to return for more adventures across the Spider-Verse. While the official trailer doesn't reveal very much in the way of a plotline but it does reveal a whole slew of spider characters in the script and on screen.

The Flash (June 23, 2023)

In another multiverse, The Flash will likely see plenty of DC crossovers with a cast including Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne and along with Sasha Calle portraying Supergirl, and Ezra Miller in the title role as Barry Allen. Rumors about the plot are running rampant about the storyline following the Flashpoint tale from the comic books.

The Marvels (July 28, 2023)

Meanwhile, in the MC universe, The Marvels is set as a sequel to the popular Captain Marvel movie from 2019. At the helm is Nia DaCosta who directed 2021's Candyman and the big-screen debut of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Mr. Marvel after her Disney+ appearances in their signature series. Brie Larson will return as Carol Danvers with a slew of other young actors and actresses in the cast of 'marvelous' characters.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 25, 2023)'

For those who enjoy watching a great new movie on Christmas Day, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be a gift for audiences appearing on the big screen in theaters. As we all know the first installment catapulted Jason Mamoa into almost instant stardom and he'll be returning as the amphibious superhero in the title role. Joining him in the underwater world of Atlantis, are Mera (Amber Heard),  Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), and other well-known celebrities like Ben Affleck and Emilia Clarke.

CLOSING NERD ALERT AND QUICK QUERY: So who is your favorite superhero or other characters in the comic universe? Thankfully, here at MaxxSouth Broadband, we embrace these personas and happily have a team of our own "geeks" known as the Brainiac Squad at your disposal. Are we nerds just because we're aware of all that's happening in the comic and techno universe? Pretty much!
