Using Direct App and Show Access with TV Select

Direct App Access on Guide

Direct App Access makes it easy to launch your favorite streaming apps right from your TV Select grid guide—no extra searching needed.

With this feature, popular apps appear as channels within your guide. Simply select the channel, and you’ll be taken directly into the app on your streaming device.

Important: App subscriptions are not included with TV Select. A separate subscription is required for each app.

Example: You may see ESPN Unlimited listed on Channel 7010 in your guide. When you select this channel, your streaming device will open the ESPN Unlimited app.

What Happens Next?

Your experience will depend on how your streaming device is set up:

App is installed and you’re signed in
  • The app opens automatically
  • You’re taken directly to the app’s home screen and can start watching right away
App is installed, but you’re not signed in
  • The app opens to the sign-in screen
  • Simply log in to begin watching
App is not installed
  • You’ll be prompted to download the app from the Google Play Store
  • After downloading, you’ll need to sign in or subscribe to the service
Not signed into the Google Play Store
  • You’ll be asked to sign in to the Google Play Store
  • A Google account is required to download apps

Direct Show Access in Search

Direct Show Access helps you get to the content you want even faster by taking you straight to a specific show from search results.

Example: If you search for Stranger Things, your TV Select search will find the show and take you directly to it within the Netflix app—so you can start watching with fewer steps.

Important: You must have an active subscription to the app (such as Netflix) to view the content.
